As a new thing, its name and classification are different from the industry standard, and also different from the provincial and local construction procedures and enterprise construction methods, showing a pattern of a hundred flowers. After studying many classifications and technical forms, we summarize them. From the technical and management point of view, the following classifications are proposed: according to the arrangement of plants on the wall, the green wall can be divided into pixel-type green wall and vine-type green wall.

Pixel plant wall planting boxes: containers or plants are distributed in dots on a vertical green surface. Planting plant containers can be categorized into planting basin (trough) type, planting shelf (box) type and planting blanket (bag) type; Vine type green wall: choose the cultivation form of climbing or hanging vines, which can be divided into traditional and improved type by the way of plant climbing or attaching.

Point-type green plant wall planting box: in the form of high-density, direct planting or installation of large-scale cultivated plants in the vertical plane, the rapid formation of vertical green surface. The advantage is greening in time, the disadvantage is that the density is too high for the long-term growth of plants. After a period of time, yellow leaves, dead leaves and shedding feet appear in the plant wall, and the leaves become sparse, affecting the ornamental;

Nutritional plant wall planting box: medium density of medium-sized plants are planted on the vertical wall. Advantages favor the healthy growth of plants, which will be healthy and robust in the later stage. Disadvantages need some growing time to form a beautiful landscape.

Planting basin (trench) type: consists of a planting basin (trough), each planting basin planting one or more kinds of plants, installation and replacement are relatively easy. Plants of the same volume (crown diameter and height) are installed evenly and in an orderly manner, and plants of different volumes are combined together, requiring a high level of skill to achieve the desired effect. However, due to the limited volume of soil in basins, root systems tend to grow around the basin walls over a long period of time, and plants senesce and die out due to lack of space to grow. Temporary green walls and green walls that require frequent plant replacement can be prioritized.

Routine maintenance is relatively easy in the short term, while long-term maintenance is costly. Due to the large number of single basins and the small amount of water stored in each basin, frequent irrigation is required. Without an automatic irrigation system, it is difficult to ensure the uniformity of manual irrigation, and plants in the upper layer will easily die due to lack of water; due to the large number of irrigators and the complexity of the pipe network, it is difficult to repair automatic drip irrigation once a problem occurs, and thus the irrigators are often clogged or irrigated unevenly, resulting in the death of plants due to drought or waterlogging.

At present, the market also shows that the original planting pool can be placed directly in the tray or planting pipe, which can store a certain amount of water. The former is relatively easy to construct. After installing the tray structure, plants of a certain size can be placed directly with the pots according to the pattern. The latter requires horizontal installation of pipes of different shapes with water inlets and outlets at both ends of the pipes to keep the bottom of the pipes at a certain level. The planting pots suck water from the bottom for plant growth, solving the problem of uneven water supply by drip irrigation. Difficulties lie in the setting of water level heights in different areas so that the soil in the basins is not too wet and dry, as well as high water temperatures in the summer and freezing in the winter in areas with hot and cold summers.
